When does CLM outperform GRC for compliance audits?

CLM excels when a large share of audit evidence lives in contracts and amendments. It parses unstructured documents, maps clauses to obligations, and preserves lineage across negotiation and performance—capabilities traditional GRC tools struggle to deliver, often driving heavy manual effort.

How does agentic AI strengthen audit defensibility?

Agentic AI links every recommendation to its source with clear explanations, enabling clause-level lineage and rapid evidence verification. Sirion’s AI agents provide traceable references and rationale for each action, improving trust with auditors and reducing back-and-forth.

What ROI can enterprises expect from AI-native CLM?

Recent deployments show 60% faster contract reviews and measurable financial gains like 12% lower spend leakage, with common payback in 6–12 months. Case studies such as BNY Mellon highlight large-scale metadata extraction and continuous audit readiness.

Can we keep our GRC and add CLM? How do integrations work?

Yes—overlaying CLM preserves GRC investments while closing contract-specific gaps. Pre-built, bi-directional connectors to ERP and procurement systems (e.g., SAP Ariba) maintain end-to-end data lineage and audit trails with minimal disruption.

Which CLM capabilities matter most for evidence collection?

Prioritize intelligent ingestion and de-duplication, clause and metadata extraction, obligation tracking with SLA validation, and automated audit trails. A searchable contract repository with real-time performance data enables fast, defensible evidence packages.

How should we decide to extend GRC vs overlay or replace with CLM?

If contracts are a minor evidence source, extending GRC can suffice. When contract volume, complexity, and regulatory change are high, overlay CLM for contract intelligence—or replace GRC for contract-centric compliance; IDC advises being prescriptive in vendor evaluations for these scenarios.
