UK Department for Transport’s Sarah Younghusband Wins IACCM’s Excellence in Contract Management Award

Prestigious recognition for transforming the management of rail franchise contracts at DfT leveraging SirionLabs’ supplier management platform

LONDON, June 7, 2018SirionLabs, the industry’s leading provider of supplier management technology purpose-built for complex contracts, today announced that UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) has won IACCM’s ‘Excellence in Contract Management’ Award – one of the most coveted awards in the industry that recognizes outstanding leadership in contract management. Sarah Younghusband, head of contract design and management in UK DfT’s Passenger Services Directorate, won the award in ‘The Use of Contract Technology to Deliver Social Benefit’ category.

Sarah received the award at the IACCM Europe Conference in Krakow, Poland. In accepting the award at the event, Sarah spoke about how the DfT leveraged Sirion for managing its rail franchise agreements and said, “DfT’s initiative for integrated management of its contracts with the Train Operating Companies (TOCs) combines SirionLabs’ technology with industry best practices. This improves contract management effectiveness by creating a single platform for managing contract performance and relationships with all stakeholders.” Speaking about her award, Sarah said “To be shortlisted for the award is an honor but to win makes me extremely proud to work for a public sector organization that puts customers and taxpayers at the heart of the way it does business.”

Speaking at the ceremony Tim Cummins, President, IACCM said: “In partnering with SirionLabs, DfT’s contract management program demonstrates how technology can be used to create real impact – not limited to just internal process improvements, but driving improved efficiencies across a complex eco-system, in this case, a country’s rail network. Ultimately this will translate into a better travel experience for the community. In selecting Sarah as a winner of IACCM’s 2018 Contract Excellence Award, the judges recognized her tenacity and dedication in using contract management as a source of social benefit.”

This was the second successive year when a partnership involving SirionLabs emerged as the winner in the IACCM Contract Management Excellence awards. In 2017, Vodafone’s Group Head of Commercial Contract Management, Reinhard Plaza-Bartsch, had won this award for leading Vodafone’s Commercial Contract Management (CCM) program, which is powered by Sirion.

“I am delighted to partner with a client like the DfT and Sarah, who have taken a progressive approach to building a template that will define the future of how commercial relationships are managed in the rail industry,” said Claude Marais, co-founder and President, SirionLabs. “It is clients like Sarah that have motivated us to develop the next generation platform for contract performance management.”
